Well!! the first ever BeTwixmas Tea Dance was a resounding success.
Congratulations to Irene and Ray for a fabulous event. A great big thanks to Andy for supplying the mixer equipment and helping with the music. Not that I want to boast!! but quite a few people said they really enjoyed and thanked us for our eclectic mix of music; from Golden Age, Traditional, Nuevo and non traditional.
Nas was kept very busy for most of the evening on the desk taking money and names. At one point people were queueing in the corridor; eventually Nas and his table moved into the corridor to enable another table to be occupied by dancers!! Approximately 70 people attended which made it a fabulous mid Christmas early evening event. Sue supplied a small bottle of Champagne for each table which made the tables look wonderful with Irene’s purple theme.
A couple from Spain, Jero and Dona, who were visiting relatives in Derby joined us for the evening. They saw the information about our event on Face Book. Jero and Dona teach Argentine Tango in Spain and offered to do an impromptu display at the end of the evening – how lucky were we!! The display was fun, brilliant and exciting; Amazing! It made the evening really special. Before they return to Spain they have also agreed to run a workshop at the Chester Green (Derby) Practica on Sunday (3rd Jan); which is an extra special treat for the dancers of Derby and Nottingham.
Geoff Crossley supplied the photos which are fabulous; many thanks Geoff.
