Two to Tango – Spondon Village Hall

I’m really pleased to announce that after their successful event “Twix Christmas”, Irene and Ray have found an excellent permanent venue for their quarterly milonga (Two to Tango) at Spondon Village Hall, Sitwell St, Spondon DE21 7FG.  The hall is situated in the village centre which is only about 30 minutes from Nottingham city centre and 15 minutes West on the A52 from Junc 25 of the M1.  Follow signs for Spondon and Ilkeston (A6096).  Spondon VH inside

There is a fabulous wooden dance floor, air conditioning and good facilities for catering etc. With plenty of off street parking so no need to worry where you’re going to park your car.

The next milonga is on 15 April but keep an eye on the website for updated information.

BeTwixmas Tea Dance

Well!! the first ever BeTwixmas Tea Dance was a resounding success.

Congratulations to Irene and Ray for a fabulous event.  A great big thanks to Andy for supplying the mixer equipment and helping with the music.  Not that I want to boast!! but quite a few people said they really enjoyed  and thanked us for our eclectic mix of music; from Golden Age, Traditional, Nuevo and non traditional.

Nas was kept very busy for most of the evening on the desk taking money and names.  At one point people were queueing in the corridor; eventually Nas and his table moved into the corridor to enable another table to be occupied by dancers!!  Approximately 70 people attended which made it a fabulous mid Christmas early evening event.  Sue supplied a small bottle of Champagne for each table which made the tables look wonderful with Irene’s purple theme.

A couple from Spain, Jero and Dona, who were visiting relatives in Derby joined us for the evening.  They saw the information about our event on Face Book.  Jero and Dona teach Argentine Tango in Spain and offered to do an impromptu display at the end of the evening – how lucky were we!!  The display was fun, brilliant and exciting;   Amazing! It made the evening really special.  Before they return to Spain they have also agreed to run a workshop at the Chester Green (Derby) Practica on Sunday (3rd Jan); which is an extra special treat for the dancers of Derby and Nottingham.

Geoff Crossley supplied the photos which are fabulous; many thanks Geoff.

Here’s to the next event – Friday, 22 January at the Spondon Village Hall, Sitwell Street, Spondon, Derby DE21 7FG.  Start at 20:00 ’til 23:30.  10 mins from Jnc 25 of the M1, heading west on the A52. Plenty of free parking to the rear of the hall.  More info on the Derby Tango Website

ImageCidinha and Njaal

Bramcote Village is situated between Nottingham and Derby, just off the A52, and is ideally situated for people from both cities to attend the milonga.  It has great links from the M1 (North and South) so people from further afield will have no difficulties in finding the venue.

Luna y Molino – Regular Venue for the Monthly Milonga

Bramcote Memorial Hall

Luna y Molino (Tango Gardens) now have a regular venue for their milongas, Bramcote Memorial Hall, Church Street, Bramcote Village, Nottinghamshire, NG9 3HD (just off the A52 between Derby and Nottingham). It’s a lovely venue with plenty of room for dancing, free parking and great music (mainly traditional music with some tandas of Nuveo).  Cidinha and Njaal usually hold these milongas every second Saturday of each month, but you can find more information about their events on their website.

Cidinha and Njaal offer the opportunity for private lessons prior to the milonga on a Saturday afternoon – contact them direct for their fees.  It’s a brilliant opportunity for ladies to experience a teacher who appreciates the difficulties experienced by us ladies and can teach the skills required to become excellent followers; which I am aware men really do appreciate – even if they don’t say it often enough.

Their first milonga for 2015 is on 10 January – so don’t miss it; put it in your diary with a reminder!!

You can even link their the calendar on their website – especially if you use Google – it’s so easy!
